person for your homeSchütz & Kanomata Ltda. is a family-run ESL school located in a small town in the south of Brazil. Santa Cruz, the Portuguese word for holy cross, started as a German immigration center as of 1849 and today a large number of people still speak German in the countryside. Because of its German origin and due to a strong presence of multinational companies as well as efficient language teaching, the percentage of multilingual people is slightly higher than other cities in Brazil.
The school belongs to Mr. Schütz and his Japanese wife Ms. Kanomata. The Schütz family has been well-known in the community for four generations. The school operates in Santa Cruz since 1988, in an old 2-story German-style mansion built in 1922 by Mr. Schütz's grandfather, surrounded by a 1.85-acre garden with fruit trees. See the place here.
S&K's cultural exchange department specializes in careful selection of au pair candidates exclusively from the local community. The applicants and their parents are thoroughly interviewed by Mr. Schütz and his wife, and references are obtained from former teachers or employers. Before being accepted, they are evaluated regarding personality, physical and psychological health, emotional stability, educational background, experience with children, and language abilities. All candidates attend a 16-hour training program. Families interested in having a caring Brazilian au pair in their homes are assured by our careful screening.
We suggest families to provide:
Full airfare through prepaid ticket (PTA), or at least 50% of the airfare (50% to be deducted from the first few months' payments) A bonus at the end of the program, in case airfare is not provided A weekly allowance ranging from US$100 to US$150 Health insurance Language course Any other cultural benefits are also encouraged.
Families interested in one of the available candidates, please provide detailed information about themselves and the job, including address, phone number, references and photographs, and a letter of intention stating what the family offers and expects from the au pair, her responsibilities, rules for the home, etc.
