He's been very helpful to me. I realize that nothing is as simple as it seems. You'd be surprised what good connections can get you." Miguel, As you stated it seems to me that connections with the right people is what made you "so succesful". That's why I think you shouldn't be bragging about "your accomplishments" since they were not simply chances of fate. As you mention you have had your uncle, who is a "high tax paying citizen", to give you a hand. Is that how you intend to get ahead in life by buying your way through? You sound just like a spoiled brat who thinks he or she is better than the others around him or her. History is satured with people who like to use the "poor man's apology" which consists of "claming to having been dirty poor at one point in life always omitting connections that were used to get ahead in life and become sucessful". You have indeed made good use of your opportunities, more stupid is the man that having the opportunity simply lets it slip by. But that doesn't give you the least of the rights to publicly diminish a foreign culture just because so and so thinks he is the man. Having a degree is important, having an accredited degree from a top international university is even more important. But above all, in the end, all that matters is personality and character;without them you're nothing. Congratulations on your university graduation. You are welcome in Brazil, I am sure you will have a great time in this wonderful nation. But remember "when in Rome do as the Romans do". Bottom line you should just admit that "it's not what you know but who you know that matters". Isn't that your law too? Cris |
