| Mensagem: | Guys (Miguel and Pat), I had no idea this topic would be so controversial! Anyway, Miguel, I'm not black. One of my greatgrandfathers was a mulato (half black half white) and my grandfather was Spaniard, born and raised in Spain. As I said, I'm white in Brazil. But, I guess this is indeed a racial matter, since I was told I was "Hispanic", and not "White" when I filling in some kind of form, about my race, at school. It sounds to me that this one drop rule is really racist! And the fact is, in Brazil the races have been more mixed. Indians married black, white married indians, indians married white and so on. It is actually hard to find a person here who is "pure white" or even "pure black". I guess we are the real melting pot, whereas the US is more like a salad bar! No ofense here!
