| Mensagem: | College education (curso universitário) in the U.S. is divided in undergraduate (graduação) and graduate (pós-graduação). It is important to note that the term undergraduate is a false cognate as it refers to what we call in Portuguese graduação. Post-secondary or undergraduate studies can lead to an Associate degree (two years) and a Bachelor's degree (four years). Graduate school - called postgraduate studies in the UK - is the American English term that refers to the Portuguese mestrado and doutorado. ;) |
