| Mensagem: | Hello Yeah Dale is right, there is a limit, English is the target language and most of our pupils are likely to practise English only in the classroom; some who are really eager for it may listen to the songs they like best or watch their preferred films, but most don't even do homework. Learning is essentialy hard-working, but that indeed doesn't mean torture!!!! As Dale very properly stated, if we use most English in classroom (by 'most English' I mean the pieces of language that hasn't been officialy taught, we can spend an hour practising bits of language that were exposed, like uses and the structure of the Present Simple) students might get tired, feel stupid and abandon their learning blaming themselves or the teachers (negative propaganda). I believe we are in the same situation, we speak Portuguese as mother tongue and all of our students do! So I believe that we can practise bits of language first and freer usages can later be achieved. José Roberto |
