When the women's movement (Feminist movement) was entrenched in the United States, the sex biased pronoun - HE - was switched to a sex neutral pronoun - THEIR. The feminists did some really good lobbying that eventually turned the pronoun - HE - into a politically incorrect pronoun when refering to females. As result, a sex neutral pronoun - THEIR - was implanted in the psyches of the people. So now most people will go out of their way not to be labeled a "sexist" or of being politically incorrect. |
