The deforestation plays a  important role in the drought in the amazon. Brazil doesn't have the means necessary to prevent it from happening. At the same time most of people here don't want the interference of other countries. They think that in some way we would be selling it or giving it away.

The solution would be to launch strategies for a sustaintable development of the region. It means to accept the fact that it's impossible to leave the amazon intact and to develop in a way that causes the least damage to the enviroment. 

Anyway, it still needs money and political interest to acomplish it.

About rain-water storage, it's seems something very expensive and unnecessary.

I think we'll always have water, no matter what happens to our planet. The price that we'll pay for it  will change for sure.
