If you, or others would like to communicate directly with me, my e mail address is below. We have lived in Ilheus, because it is my wife's home town. Ilheus has had, and still has, a crisis with vasoura da bruxa, a fungal disease that destroyed 90% of the Cacau production in the early 90's and left over 200,000 rural workers unemployed, who relocated to urban areas like Ilheus. Thus, for this and other problems that seem to occur all over Brazil, the economy is pretty weak in Ilheus, and few people really need to communicate in English, like in Salvador, Rio, and Sao Paulo, etc. I think that many parents who send their kids to English classes in Ilheus, do so because it is the right thing to do, like piano lessons or ballet. As well, not so many adults need English or have the financial conditions to study English in Ilheus. My experience also has been more with college age students and adults. Maybe I will have to come up there, rent a place and do what you suggest; Do you mind more competition? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I need to get some kind of a gig started soon. Are there other discussion forums like this in Brazil? I read Dave's ESL cafe just about daily, but little is mentioned about jobs in Brazil.
