| Assunto: | Why does English have to be so hard? |
| Mensagem: | How can natives know how to pronounce words without going to the dictionary? Why English has to be so hard? They know all the words which have silent letters, and for me as ESL learner when I face words, I can't tell if there is a letter that may be silent ...... It's hard for me to put into my mind that W in sword and answers is silent ... C'mon people. English speaking puritans do not want to change the spelling because it would disrespect all those languages who English has borrowed from.... FUCK THAT .... It's a lack of respect with learners that are forced to learn English but face the lack of regularity in English pronunciation. Speakers who have more phonetic languages like Portuguese and Spanish are the ones who are hurt the most, maybe English puritans do not wanna change the pronunciation because they think they are the most powerful people on earth because they can speak English. For them speakers of other languages must be all get screwed up for them to keep up their pride. The day Portuguese becomes non-phonetic (and the most important language of the world) and English becomes phonetic (and as important as Portuguese is nowadays), I will laught all my ass out, I will also want that Spanish becomes non-phonetic too, so Portuguese and Spanish will laugh their ass out at English speakers, exactly like English speakers do with Spanish and Portuguese because they are phonetic languages. I will be waiting this day. |
