Assunto:  Calçadão = Promenade

Mensagem:  You can say that again. I must hand it to you. They really call it a calçadão a promenade. Famous Copacabana promenade stands as a solid example, one on which people can easily promenade back and forth and at will. Well, not so easily nowadays, unfortunately. (You cannot stroll there anymore. Not so leisurely and as carefreely as you would in the 70s.)

Wikipedia gives the lowdown on the "promenade" subject. It even provides pictures of it.

Come-to-think-of-it notice. Now I do see the word "calçadão" as one for which more than one English word exists. Thank you very much, Andréa! You have made me promenade into it kind of easily. ;-)
