I woke up in the wee hours (before dawn) this  morning very scared.  It seemed to be raining dogs and cats. For a moment, I thought that the rain was falling inside the house.  To my surprise, it really was. Actually, the water tank pump (pump on the water tank) had broken down and the tank was overflowing.  The water was running down the stairs.

(Since houses in the USA do not have "caixas de agua", you may have to explain "water tank".)
