Grammarians have long suggested "neither of" should (always) take a singular verb. Only informally should it take a plural verb. "Neither of the forum regulars has ever seen an oblong flying saucer." "Neither of the forum ... have ever seen..." (Informal) "Neither of them speaks Klingon." "Neither of them speak..." (Informal) "Neither of these big, cigar-shaped flying saucers comes in the color I would like [to see] them painted in."
