Fala, gaúcho!
"Lawsuit Filed Over "Stick-Stick" A lawsuit is a demanda, right? As I understand it, a stick-stick is a new type of USB memory. So someone is probably having legal problems about a new product for computers.
"Standoff Ends in Far North Dallas; Two Dead" A "standoff" is a confrontation (usually armed) in which neither side has an advantage and so nothing happens. Often ina standoff, there is a hostage, possibly more than one. If the police tries to enter the building, the bad guy may kill the hostage. On the other hand, the bad guy can't leave because the police is outside. So nothing happens, at least at first. In the Old West, a "Mexican standoff" was when two or men in a confrontation had guns pointed at one another. If one fired, the other would fire. If one put away his gun, the other would fire. What do you do? Well, you try not to die. Apparently there was an armed standoff in the city of Far North Dallas, Texas. When it ended, two were dead.
