In the beginning of 2005, Adriano Giffoni, a great double bass player
who has been playing with me for years, gave me a copy of a CD of
an Italian guitarist called Eddy Palermo. I got smittened with* his technique, his jazzy way of playing and his arrangements. I
showed the CD to everyone I met and to
my surprise Eddy called me up saying he had heard I liked his CD. We
kept in touch weekly while the idea of recording together a new
instrumental bossa CD was taking shape.
*I got smitten with - This is a very formal expression and it seems out of place in an otherwise informal account. I'd suggest something simpler such as "I loved his technique..."
Maybe instead of "He has got high state of mind", it could be rewritten as "He is so into music..." or "He is so dedicated to music...." But"He has got high state of mind" doesn't make sense to me.
