I like encourage and urge. Stimulate is not right, at least in my opinion. I can stimulate your interest in history, but how do I stimulate you to do something? Although motivate is commonly used, in business classes I've heard the term attacked. Many say that we cannot motivate people, just give them opportunities to reach goals set by themselves or others. Motivation, according to some, comes from within and not from without. The verbs based on "incentive" are new to me. I would not suggest anything called "Urban Dictionary" as a resource for academic vocabulary. |
