There is this nice song in which we hear:

If I were a carpenter and you were a lady
Would you marry me anyway
Would you have my baby

Answer:

If you were a carpenter and I were a lady
I'd marry you anyway
I'd have your baby

Meaning the guy is not a carpenter and she is no lady.

All they want is to make babies.

( This ties in with the irreality we speak about discussing the use of the conditional in the tumblebug topic further on)
