If I were talking about a soccer team, I wouldn't translate the name from Portuguese into English. I've seen and heard it done (the Los Angeles Dodgers are sometimes called in Spanish "los Esquivadores de Los Angeles"), but it sounds weird and it's confusing. Shall we talk about the "Sons of the Mouth", "A Certain Indian Tribe Related to the Tupi", "Put Fires", etc.? I think not. It makes more sense, at least to me, to keep the names of Boca Juniors, Guaranís, Botafogo, etc. |
