You asked for it! You can ask your research assistant to carry out an extensive research on Chinese linguistics. Now dictionary.com says you can either ask advice or ask for advice. You can either ask a favor or ask for a favor but I've heard people ask, "Can I ask you favor?" Or a question as in "Can I ask you a question?" but never "... ask you for a question?" If you ask too much of your research assistant you may find that he may not cope with situational demands at all. If you ask your research assistant about (or for) a bottle of cachaça you may find he hides one somewhere under his desk. What else can the audience ask Márcio's research assistant to do? |
