   I don´t for certain, but it seems that, perhaps in certain circles they accept 'pap smear' or 'pap test'.   So, for pratical purposes, read some previous thesis/monographies on the subject.  Following suit, you never will be wrong.    

  Or, you can choose to be on the safe side, not being too informal from the very beginning.
