<<Our doesn´t allow foreign membership, as far as I know.>>
PP, thank you for providing such good information on the Brazilian Academy of Letters, which has a code dated back to 28 January 1897. Its code looks old, doesn't it? Anyway, the BAL harbors 40 members, of which 25 must live in Rio de Janeiro city, and no more than 20 corresponding foreign members. From what I gather, these 20 "corresponding" foreign members must possess a greater knowledge of the Portuguese language than they'd normally possess in their origin country.
Should the Brazilian Academy of Letters start taking more members and should its members revise the old code to accommodate new blood, new ideias etc?
