Tenho outras observações a respeito de seus comentários. Primeiro você diz: "I hope she HAVE a great weekend" is a big no-no." E depois: Quanto ao "I hope she have a great weekend" invés de "I hope she has a great weekend". Isso eu não sei agora, só sei que foi assim! E é assim...""BTW, "I hope it doesn't rain" is grammatically correct." Confesso que eu deveria ter sido mais específica, usando a seguinte frase "I hope it does not rain much there", com o seguinte significado "Espero que não chove muito lá", que no caso estaria correto, pois chover já chove, por isso o uso do DOES, só espera-se que não chove muito. Porém, "I hope it does not rain TOMORROW" que foi o que eu levantei em questão, aí sim eu não concordo, pois tomorrow, ainda virá, e o uso do does seria incorreto. "In Portuguese the subjunctive of the verb chover is chova, que chova, que não chova but in English, and the focus here is on the verb rain and not on the verb hope, we use the 3rd person singular for the verb "to rain"." Na verdade o foco não é no rain.. rain foi apenas um exemplo.. Poderia ser "I hope it does not end". O foco é justamente no hope, pois o memso possui um sentido de desejo, algo nao aconteceu nem está acontecendo. Se eu falasse "I think it does not rain" o sentido seria totalmente diferente, a forma gramatical usada totalmente aceitável. "When in the sentence "I hope she have a great weekend" the negative way would be: "I hope she doesn´t have a great weekend." Discordo totalmente de você, pois se o certo fosse "I hope she doesn't have", qual seria o problema em usar "I hope she has"? Se "I hope she has" está errado, certamente "I hope she does not" também está, pois a única diferença nas duas sentenças é a negação, o que se caracteriza pela simples colocação da palavra "not" na frase.
