"It now recommends four and a half cups of fruits and vegetables (that’s nine servings) for people who eat 2,000 calories a day." http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/25/health/policy/25vegetables.html I've always thought that the word fruit should be used in the singular form till I came across the above article. Is the idea to emphasise the variety? That we should not eat only one type of fruit? thanks in advance |
