Well done, teacher. You were more trigger-happy than I was, hehe.
Yeah, fruits there was to emphasize "variety", say, the guy wasn´t talking about it in general but, about the various types of fruits. Let´s imagine that one is thinking about bread fruit, star fruit, Surinam cherry, mango, cashew nut; then he is thinking about fruits. Whereas in "general" he would thing about fruit as in "tree or plants produce fruit" (traduzido produz "frutas").
