Back down here (Recife) people will (purposefully) refrain from saying Thank you. They will even fail to return personal greetings. At times you will hear people grunt their Good mornings early in the morning but in a muffled manner. Some of my condo neighbors do just that in the elevator, some don't. Some will look right over your head so as to avoid stares. Well, talk about good manners! |
